Class details


Class sizes are small, typically between six to ten children per class depending on age and level, so each child can progress at a rate individual to them.

Learning aims:

  • Quick and confident mental calculation of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division

  • Understand and visualise the processes of calculation

  • Build concentration

  • Take away the fear of maths

Children who can read and write numbers from 1-10 are ready to learn soroban.

*We do not offer lessons for adult at the moment.

Exam Information

 
Wakamatsu Soroban Club students are all able to take internationally recognised exams in order to achieve a Soroban/Anzan grading that shows their level of ability. 

<International Soroban Exam>
The
International Soroban Exams are organized by the ISDF(国際珠算普及基金) and supported by 'The League of Japan Abacus Associations (日本珠算連盟)'.  
The exams are held on the 4th Sunday of January, April, July and October every year. (This exam is not available via online.)

<Flash Anzan Exam>
Flash Anzan Exams are organized by the General Incorporated Association 'Japan Flash Anzan Authorities' (一般社団法人 日本フラッシュ暗算協会), and the exams are supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan (文部科学省​ 後援) . This exam can be taken anytime during lessons both Face to face and via Online.
